Puerto Lopez and Isla de Las Platas - Poor Man's Gallapagos

Off we went down the coast to Puerto Lopez by the public bus.  It is pretty comfortable depending if you get a new or old bus.

We stayed at Hostería Itapoa which was one of the few that had a breakfast included.

...and bug nets, although the only one that is getting bit is Hayes.  He decided to sleep like this.

I was very comforted that we could lock our door to our room....

The first day we went on a tour to Isla de las Platas - or Poor Man's Gallapagos.  I knew we went with the right tour company as soon as they handed out the life vests.  Wahoo!!

On the way to the island we had the fortune of having 2 humpback whales swim next to us for awhile.

Then we were at the island and ready to take a sender (trail) around to look at the wildlife.

The first of which met us at the boat - Marine tortugas.

Then my favorite!! Blue Boobies!  They were everywhere!  We were tripping over them.

What a great color for their feet!  Different colored blue depended on their maturity.

...and more Fragates warbeling for their mate.

It was a beautiful island...just a taste of what the Gallapagos must look like.

We then ended the day with a snorkel on the other side of the island.  Cassi was the only one in the group to see a Manta Ray.  She has decided she wants to do what Uncle Bruce does - take pictures of undersea creatures.  Diving certificate first.

It was a very fun filled day that left us wanting more.
